M.S. in Speech Language Pathology (3-year program)

Admission Requirements

The M.S. degree program in Speech Language Pathology (3-year program) will consider applicants who:​

  • Meet the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School.
  • Submit an official transcript (U.S. schools) or NACES, AICE or CGFNS evaluation (international schools) showing an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, and official transcripts or NACES, AICE, or CGFNS evaluations from all graduate schools attended. Applicants must also submit an official transcript or NACES, AICE, or CGFNS evaluation from any school that shows completion of required program prerequisites.
  • Have earned a baccalaureate or higher degree or an equivalent from an institutionally accredited (or internationally recognized as equivalent) institution.
  • Have earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale on the highest degree completed.
  • Submit a written Statement of Purpose.
  • Interview with program faculty and representatives upon invitation. Bethel undergraduate students or graduates who meet all of the qualifications are guaranteed an interview, but not guaranteed a seat in the program. 
  • Submit a current resume.
  • Submit 2 Letters of Recommendation from professional references; one letter can be from a clinical supervisor or course instructor; the other letter can be from a supervisor/employer from a recently held job.
  • Successful completion of the following college-level subject matter prerequisites from institutionally accreditated U.S. higher education institutions:
    • Biological Sciences (including biology, human anatomy and physiology, neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, genetics)
    • Physical Sciences (including physics or chemistry)
    • Behavioral and/or Social Sciences (including psychology, sociology, and anthropology)
    • Statistics (a stand-alone course covering general statistics principles)

Students who have not achieved the minimum GPA, grade standards, or other assessment criteria may still apply to be considered for provisional acceptance. See Admission Categories.

Students must complete courses in the following areas: Anatomy and Physiology or Speech and Swallowing, Introduction to Audiology/Hearing, Introduction to Phonetics, Introduction to Communication Disorders Across the Lifespan, Neuroscience of Communciation Disorders, Language Development, and Aural Rehabilitation.
